The Baraya Center is designed by RTKL and is being developed by Barwa Al Doha. The aim is to set a new standard for approaches to sustainable development in Qatar. The project will provide 33,000m2 of office, retail, hospitality and entertainment space which will create a more pedestrian-friendly, sustainable area in the old part of Doha City. Barwa Al Doha Mixed Use Development Project (Baraya) is designed on two plots with a total area of 61,303m2, located in Doha Al Jadeeda. It is close to the sea and situated at the intersection of two main roads: the ring road, Ahmed Bin Mohammed Bin Thani Street and the radial artery, Al Muntazah.
The development will consist of an enclosed shopping mall of 76,000 m2 on three levels, including a supermarket, food court, cinemas and family entertainment areas. Office space of 30,000m2 will be provided in a twenty six storey tower as well as 20,000m2 of fully furnished, serviced apartments (104 units) arranged on ten floors. Above the apartments there will be a twelve floor, four star hotel consisting of 264 rooms, a function room of 750m2 and a 3,000m2 Spa. The complex will contain a Mosque (500m2) for 300 worshippers. In addition there will be parking facilities for 4,250 vehicles in three basements and an adjacent seven storey building.
